And so it shifts....

Life is unpredictable. It wouldn't work any other way. As life moves in new directions, goals decisions, and even resolutions also must shift.

When I made this resolution to take one photo a day, I only anticipated a school getting in my way. Since this resolution I have been proposed to, found out my grandma has cancer, started one of the heaviest semesters of my college career, chosen a wedding date, and begun planning a wedding. All of this while trying to get homework done and do what I was put on this earth to do....DANCE. It is too much. I enjoy a challenge, but I don't want my resolution to document my life to turn into a chore that I have to get done. How is that creative? SO, my resolution must shift. I am already in the habit of taking more photos than I used to. I enjoy the challenge and I take my camera everywhere. Instead of forcing myself to take one photo a day, I am only asking myself to document my life a couple times a week. Whenever a photo opportunity presents itself, I will be ready!

With this in mind, I will now finish updating. A game of catch-up is never any fun....

No words....

Only pictures...I need to catch up. I am afraid that life has thrown me several unplanned situations that have increased my stress and decreased the amount of time that I have to keep my new year's goals in check. I am bummed about the fact that I have fallen asleep more than one night without snapping a photo....but I refuse to give up just yet. No more words, only
pictures....a lot of pictures.

To-Do Lists

School has started and I already feel the pressure. Class everyday, papers to write, less time for creativity, less time to think. This last week has been the hardest week yet. Resolutions always get more difficult as the year progresses and are goals drift further away. New problems and challenges arise. These pictures are a little more hurried and not quite as creative as I would have liked. BUT, I have yet to miss a day. I know it will get tough, but I will try to keep updating and keep it creative. There are exciting things that will be happening in the next week!

Engaged!

My Engagement! This was the happiest moment in my life. I hope that I captured the joy that both Mark and I were feeling. What a wonderful thing to record for my own history, and for you to enjoy from afar!

January 15, 2010
January 16, 2010- On our way to my dad's house for dinner. We were both so excited and nervous to tell everyone the news! This was the beautiful scene we had for our drive
January 17, 2010- This was the sad day that I had to say goodbye to Mark. He headed back out to California to work while I stayed here to finish school. This Sunday night, I remembered just before midnight to find a photo opportunity. This is a picture of our new fireplace. I like how lonely it looks. Maybe it matches my mood...
January 18, 2010- These are items that were included in my engagement. It was a scavenger hunt and each gift represents one of my clues. It ended with my wonderful fiance and a beautiful ring.
January 19, 2010- This night, my mom gave me a beautiful card wishing all of my dreams to come true. In the card was a simple necklace that held a lot of meaning....

January 20, 2010- I wish that I could be nothing but excited and thrilled about my engagement. It is bittersweet because although I am happy, not everyone else is. My future in-laws are less than thrilled at the idea of me becoming a member of their family, and they make that fact known out loud. This, of course, breaks my heart. I try to be patient and kind, but sometimes the only place I can turn is a sheet of paper to write my feelings down.

That was quite a few photos. I hope they become more and more interesting as the year progresses.... Stay tuned!

A Perfect Year for Pictures

Last Friday, January fifteenth, my boyfriend proposed to me! I said yes!!!!!

It made me think that this is going to be a wonderful year to document with one picture a day. My engagement year. I couldn't be happier. There will be tons of pictures up soon, but first I have to catch up my previous days.

Creativity has found me on some days. Only two nights has it been 10 and I have thought "OH NO!". Luckily, I have not forgotten yet. Enjoy these! The engagement pictures will be up so soon.

January 12, 2010- A beautiful flower I found in a pot on the kitchen table. Beauty can be found everywhere. The picture below is cupcake art. Another hobby of mine is baking. It is a fiery sunflower!

January 13, 2010- A cool shot with Mark, Gus and Myself. I actually snapped this one myself! Can you believe it?
January 14, 2010- A photo of Mark and I (me holding the camera of course) and these beautifully lit up trees. The colors are so bright against the dark sky.

First Photos

Like all goals for the New Year, mine has started off enthusiastically. I have captured several moments a day with my camera. This challenge in creativity is starting off nicely. I am sure I will have my forgetful moments as my resolutions wander further away from me. I know that life will get busier making me forget why I started these projects to begin with. For now, though, I am doing well and enjoying the memories I am storing in my little digital camera.

Here are a few of the moments that I have captured so far:

January 9, 2010- My last night in California in an empty apartment with way too many cards

January 10, 2010- A quick snapshot before heading to the airport in L.A. I wanted an image that would remind me of the sun and warmth before I returned home to the cold winter of Kansas.

January 11, 2010- Home in Kansas to play a quick game with dice and spend time with our houseguest Gus!

Here We Go!

A new year means time for new resolutions. My resolution is to bring more creativity into my life. I am sure that it has been done before, but the goal is simple. I will take at LEAST one picture everyday for the rest of the year. The idea came to me just a day ago, so I will be missing 8 out of the 365. I have decided not to limit myself to just one picture a day...you just never know when the creative mood will strike. This is a great opportunity to express myself through one of my hobbies, expand my creativity, and document 2010. I have already begun this adventure and my photos will be added and dated soon. Enjoy!
